Hewlett-Packard plans to sell a pair of digital signage players preloaded with Scala software. Both the HP SignagePlayer mp8000s and SignagePlayer mp8000r come with Scala’s new QuickStart software, which automatically configures the players as soon as the client or integrator enters a code. The full-featured HP/Scala player can then be added to an existing digital signage network and managed using Scala’s hosted software for $45 per month per player. The $1,119 HP SignagePlayer mp8000s supports content up to 720p in a design that can be mounted behind a display.
