DPI to Unveil Compact DLP

Digital Projection International (DPI) will officially roll out the new Highlite Cine 280 this week at CEDIA Expo in Atlanta. The 3-chip DLP, single-lamp projector is expected to provide 1920×1080 images for home cinema enthusiasts.
Providing up to 2,000 lumens and 12,000:1 contrast ratio, the Highlite Cine can display on screens up to 12 feet wide, says the company, as well as in venues with some ambient light. Encased in a new, compact chassis, the Highlite Cine 280 addresses integrator requests for DPI performance within a smaller, sleeker cabinet, according to DPI. The Cine series design is also incorporated into several other new projectors from DPI, such as the Vision Cine LED and Titan.
According to the company, the Highlite Cine’s compact and lightweight chassis design helps ease installation, as does the lens shift range of 30 percent horizontal and 120 percent vertical. Multiple lens options provide further flexibility, with 7 and 1.0:1 fixed lenses plus zoom lenses with a throw ratio range from 1.25 to 5.0:1. Input options include two HDMI, an RGB via D-15, one Component, one Composite, and an S-video.
George Walter, DPI’s vice president of home cinema acknowledged the similarity between the name of the new projector and the company’s original Highlite projector, but insists in a statement that, “the Highlite Cine is a completely new design from the inside out.”
