Extron Enhances Twisted-Pair Matrix

Extron Electronics has introduced the MTPX Plus 6400 Series large-scale twisted pair matrix switchers.

Extron Electronics has introduced the MTPX Plus 6400 Series large-scale twisted pair matrix switchers. Available in 12 different I/O sizes, from 16×48 to 64×64, the MTPX Plus 6400 Series expands on the features of the MTPX Plus Series with EDID Minder for local inputs and outputs, RS-232 insertion from the Ethernet port to all MTP outputs, and switchable video pre-peaking on all outputs.

The MTPX Plus Series was introduced nearly three years ago as a matrix switcher for twisted pair applications. “The addition of these new larger sizes and key technology advancements provide system designers with a complete family of products that take full advantage of the benefits offered by twisted pair signal distribution,” said Casey Hall, Extron vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement.

The MTPX Plus 6400 Series is capable of switching local and remote A/V signals to multiple destinations and is fully compatible with the entire Extron MTP product line, according to the company.

The MTPX Plus 6400 Series provides features to reduce costs associated with rack space, cabling, and installation, including dynamic skew equalization to maintain RGB color alignment; video level and peaking compensation for brighter and sharper images; local RS-232 insertion ports to eliminate the need for control system wiring to remote displays; local high-resolution video inputs and outputs to eliminate the need for additional transmitters and receivers; and local audio output volume adjustment and muting to eliminate the need for preamplifiers in many AV systems.
