Genelec BroadcastPak

Genelec, a pioneer in active monitoring, is shipping its new BroadcastPak. Composed of five 8030A biamplified monitors and a 7050B active subwoofer, the BroadcastPak offers a space-saving 5.1 monitoring solution, ideal for multichannel editing rooms, mobile recording trucks, and other mixing environments where space may be at a premium, company officials said.

Genelec also introduced its 1238CF Tri-Amplified DSP Monitoring System, a compact three-way DSP monitoring loudspeaker designed for medium-sized control rooms.

The BroadcastPak was inspired by Genelec’s PowerPak, which includes 8030A monitors and a 7060B sub. Users told the company that a similar solution with a smaller footprint might appeal to a different set of mixers, most notably the broadcast market, so the 7060B was replaced with a 7050B (which is significantly smaller) for the BroadcastPak, company officials said.

The compact 8030A is a powerful biamplified nearfield monitor system ideal for broadcast mix, project and home studios, workstations, installations, and surround-sound monitoring. The MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) aluminum die-cast enclosure has rounded edges and a gently curved front and sides to achieve a very smooth frequency response and superb imaging qualities with minimized cabinet edge diffraction, according to the company. Like all Genelec 8000 series monitors, the 8030A also has Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), a flow-optimized reflex port design, optimized die-cast aluminum structure with durable semi-matte finish, and acoustically optimized metal grilles. Low-distortion drivers are driven by dedicated dual 40W amplifiers. Magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry, and room-response controls—critical for smaller rooms, according to Genelec— are standard.

The Genelec BroadcastPak is now available with a U.S. MSRP of $5,350.

Genelec 1238CF

Genelec 1238CF features a slim speaker enclosure, two 8-inch long-throw bass drivers, a 5-inch proprietary Genelec midrange driver, and a 1-inch metal dome tweeter. It also has multiple power amplifiers, digital signal processing (DSP) circuitry, and active, low-level crossovers. The 1238CF is compatible with proprietary Genelec Loudspeaker Manager control software and can be combined with Genelec 8200/7200 Series products in the same control network.

Company officials said the 1238CF was developed in response to customer requests for mid- and high-frequency Genelec performance in a more compact package. It features a bass response down to 57Hz. The system can be used in combination with a optional subwoofer in either stereo or multichannel applications.

The 1238CF’s compact, sealed enclosure measures 24 inches by 18.5 inches by 10.125 inches, making it suitable for on-wall, free-standing, or flush-mounted applications. The system has a built-in tri-amplifier unit, delivering a total of 390W into the long-throw bass drivers, midrange driver, and metal dome tweeter.

The Genelec 1238CF Tri-Amplified DSP Monitoring System is available now. Pricing was not immediately available.
