High-Brightness Projectors: Sony VPL-FX500L and VPL-FX30
Sony’s new VPL-FX500L delivers 7,000 lumens of color light output suitable for large-screen applications. The VPL-FX30 provides 4,200 lumens and a 1.6X zoom lens for small to mid-size to rooms.
Sony recently added to its line of high-brightness 3LCD business projectors with two new XGA models designed for fixed installation applications. The new VPL-FX500L delivers 7,000 lumens of color light output and depending on the lens you use, can shift images +/-96 percent vertically and +/-64 percent horizontally from their original position. It’s suitable for large-screen applications such as university lecture halls and corporate auditoriums. The VPL-FX500L’s twin-lamp system works as a fail-safe (it hits 7,000 lumens with just one lamp), with the second lamp kicking in should the primary lamp fail. They can also be used alternatively, for a total expected lamp life of up to 8,000 hours, according to Sony. The new VPL-FX30 provides 4,200 lumens of color light output and comes standard with 1.6X zoom lens for small to mid-size to classrooms or meeting rooms.
