Home Theater Loudspeakers: Bowers & Wilkins CT700 Custom Theater

A new Custom Theater line was recently unveiled by Bowers & Wilkins.

A new Custom Theater line was recently unveiled by Bowers & Wilkins. The CT700 Custom Theater is considered more modest in size and price than the company's 800-series Nautilus, but claims to deliver the same quality. The new theater series offers three different front/surround-channel options, 10-inch and 12-inch sub-woofers, and an outboard, rack-mounted, 1,000-watt subwoofer amplifier. All five loudspeaker elements come in matte black and are intended for custom installations in concealed locations. The CT700 models all employ the company's proprietary woven-Kevlar materials technology in their midrange and low-frequency drivers. To eliminate reflections from projectors or other light sources, the cones in the series use Blue Kevlar. They also use the Nautilus' tube-loaded tweeter design to absorb the backwave from the high-frequency drivers. Price: CT7.3 LCRS, $1,500 (shown); CT7.4 LCRS, $1,000; CT7.5 LCRS, $600; CT8.4 LCRS, $4,000; CT SW10, CT SW12, SA1000 Subwoofer, N/A.
