Hosa Technology has introduced the new Da-Cappo DA15 cardioid earset microphone with earbud monitor.

The capsule used for the DA15 incorporates a sensitivity rating of -51 dB and a max SPL of 130 dB, says the company. The back-electret condenser microphone provides off-axis rejection by using a front-facing capsule designed to be positioned at the corner of the user’s mouth.

The DA15’s earbud monitor is integrated into the ear cushion. The dual-driver earbud offers a full-range frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a sensitivity rating of 102 dB, according to the company. The capabilities of handling high in-ear levels and functioning for both performance monitoring and interruptible feedback suit the DA15 well for the music stage or a TV newsroom.

Like other Da-Cappo headset microphone systems, the DA15 has a hypoallergenic ear cushion designed for long-wearing comfort. The cushion conceals a flexible, sprung-steel mechanism that adjusts to fit a variety of ear sizes. The DA15 also has an adjustable microphone boom, allowing a user to adjust the microphone for more comfortable fit.

The DA15 comes as a package that includes a 4-foot carbon Kevlar microphone cable, a 4-foot carbon Kevlar earbud cable, a single-cable clip for affixing the microphone and earbud monitor cables to a user’s clothing, and a low-density pop filter, all stored in a leather case.

“The new DA15 shares the performance attributes of Da-Cappo’s DA12 cardioid earset microphone and incorporates the added benefit of in-ear monitoring into a unified, easy-to-use, comfortable, and highly adjustable system,” said Hosa Technology’s national marketing manager, Jonathan Pusey, in a statement. “The DA15 forms a unified microphone/monitoring system that is equally at home for both stage performers and TV newspersons.”

The Da-Cappo DA15 kit is currently available in black or beige for an MSRP of $652.
