LG Electronics has tapped digital signage and interactive media veteran Jeff Dowell as its new vice president of digital signage, company officials said.

In the newly created position, Dowell will be responsible for driving sales growth in this key business-to-business (B2B) area for LG in the United States. He will be based in Lincolnshire, Ill., U.S. headquarters for LG Electronics Business Solutions, and will report to company president Teddy Hwang.

In his new position, Dowell will oversee content-partner development and sales for digital signage and work closely with LG Commercial Products vice president Ron Snaidauf, who is responsible for LG’s B2B sales channels such as hospitality, lodging, healthcare, and education.

“With more than 20 years of experience in digital signage, touch screens, and interactive media, Jeff brings a deep understanding and expertise to this new role,” said Hwang in a statement.

Dowell joins LG from 3M, where he was most recently Global Sales Manager for 3M’s digital out-of-home business unit. During his tenure there, which began in 2006, he was responsible for vertical markets, go-to-market initiatives, product development, competitive positioning, and worldwide partnership alliances. From 1997-2006, Dowell held a number of senior marketing, sales, and product development roles at Clarity Visual Systems. In 1994, he co-founded Multimedia Resources, which grew to become one of the top five fastest growing privately held companies in Oregon in 1997. The company sold touch-screen kiosks and early website development services to Fortune 1,000 companies.

“With terrific technology and a solid reputation already, LG has the opportunity to become a dominant player in the digital signage industry,” said Dowell.
