Magenta Research, which specializes in signal distribution and switching over structured cabling, announced a new extension product in its Infinea HD-One Series. The HD-One LX is an HDMI extension device that utilizes a single Cat-5 or Cat-6 cable and sends 1080p up to 328 feet.

“Magenta is very excited to offer another single cable HDMI extension product that, unlike many other solutions, sends uncompressed 1080p video with audio, IR and RS-232 without the need for a second UTP cable,” said Ed Caceres, Magenta Research’s engineering manager, in a statement. “HD-One LX is a perfect solution for remotely locating an HDMI source, whether in a commercial digital signage installation or residential home theater.”

Company officials said HD-One LX, which is now shipping, is fully HDCP-compliant and capable of extending uncompressed 1080p video at 60 Hz, audio, IR and bi-directional RS-232 328 feet, allowing commands and data to flow in both directions. Audio transmission supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.
