Mitsubishi Expands Projector Line
Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division has expanded its projector line-up with the XD600U, a 3D-ready projector that emits 4,500 lumens of brightness from a lamp that is estimated to last up to 5,000 hours in low power-consumption mode.

The projector also features the company’s new Diamond lens, a high-performance, all-glass lens Mitsubishi typically uses for higher-end projectors, officials said. The lens reportedly produces sharp images along with a new 1.5x zoom, which gives users more installation flexibility.
The new projector was previewed at InfoComm 09.
“We went all out to design a low-maintenance projector by incorporating a long lamp life and a high-performance HD projection lens with flexible zoom ratio,” said Wayne Kozuki, product manager for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, in a statement. “This new projector is powerful and cost effective for many applications.”
The XD600U includes Texas Instruments’ (TI) DLP DDP2230 chipset and is the first Mitsubishi projector designed with DLP Link, which makes it 3D-ready for viewing content with active-shutter 3D glasses. Other features include a 10-watt speaker and audio mix capability, closed-captioning decoder, visual public addressing feature (Visual PA), and user-friendly menus.
According to the company, simultaneous real-time messages can be displayed via the new Visual PA feature, allowing an administrator to remotely create and distribute text messages in real time to projectors connected via LAN.
Mitsubishi’s new projector is designed with two separate 3.5 mm audio inputs and a RCA audio input, as well as a 3.5 mm variable audio output. It also has a built-in audio mixer, which the company says allows the projector to simultaneously project audio from two sources, such as a DVD and a third-party wireless microphone. With this Audio Mix feature, users can adjust the volume levels of each input. An instructor or presenter can also use this configuration to verbally interject key points during a presentation and still be heard over the video playback. When the loudspeaker isn’t in use, the XD600U has a noise level of 29 dB in low mode, according to the company, and also offers closed captioning from a supported source.
The projector provides a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and filter-free technology. It also features a five-segment color wheel with TI’s BrilliantColor technology.
Mitsubishi offers government, education, and nonprofit discount pricing for its projectors through its network of authorized dealers. The XD600U is currently shipping and comes with the company’s three-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus one-year limited warranty on the lamp.
