Intended for mid-sized applications that require a variety of signal types, the SMX System MultiMatrix Series of modular multiplane matrix switchers from Extron Electronics combines multiple independent analog and digital matrix switchers in a field-configurable, modular frame. Extron believes this product would work well with medical imaging systems and conference and training facilities as a cost-effective upgrade path for ongoing I/O or signal format changes. Needing only five steps for installation, the SMX System MultiMatrix doesn’t require switcher disassembly, new firmware, or the need to remove the frame from the rack. Frames are available in 3U, 4U, and 5U sizes, with six, eight, or 10 matrix board slots, respectively. Features include front panel control, IP Link Ethernet, and RS-232 remote control.
