NEC Rolls Out Large-Venue Projector

NEC Display Solutions of America is set to release the new NP4100 professional installation projector, the latest in the company's NP Installation Series.

NEC Display Solutions of America is set to release the new NP4100 professional installation projector, the latest in the company's NP Installation Series.

According to the company, the NP4100 can display 6,200 ANSI lumens, making it appropriate for large screen sizes and rooms with minimal lighting, such as auditoriums and training centers. A line of optional bayonet-style lenses are available, enabling users to choose the necessary lens for screens of 40 to 500 inches, and from projection distances between 2.6 and 283 feet. The company said further that the NP4100 is compatible with both dual- or single-lamp operation, and features selectable setting that allow for multiple light outputs and extended lamp life.

"This addition to our NP Installation Series fulfills the desires of customers with large rooms that require exceptional performance and an increased brightness level in order to display the image properly," said product manager for projectors Rich McPherson in a statement.

The projector's Eco Mode technology increases its lamp life by up to 25 percent and decreases fan noise, according to NEC, while its Quick Power Off technology protects the lamp during cool-down by monitoring the lamp's temperature and preventing the projector from powering on until the lamp is properly cooled. A sealed dust-resistant optical system was designed to decrease the long-term effects of unwanted particles on the projector.

The projector runs at 1024x768 native resolution, a 2,100:1 contrast ratio, and 315 watts with a single lamp (580 watts with dual lamps) in Eco Mode. It features BrilliantColor and DynamicBlack, an RJ45 connection, and DVI-D input, and security features such as a cabinet control lock setting and password protection..

The NP4100 is scheduled to begin shipping this month with an estimated street price of $5,500, and comes with a standard three-year parts warranty.
