Panamax/Furman has unveiled BlueBolt, a new technology that provides IP (Internet Protocol) system control over compatible Panamax and Furman products. According to the company, BlueBolt combines an intuitive interface with plug-and-play operation to allow custom electronics installers and integrators to monitor and control power to home theater equipment.

The myBlueBolt.com graphical user interface reportedly allows installers to monitor multiple installations across multiple locations without needing to obtain static IP addresses, remember port numbers, or configure new ISP accounts. Plug-and-play operation also allows users to connect any Panamax or Furman product equipped with a BlueBolt IP communications card to the Internet; the unit is designed to automatically find its home server and be ready to use with little configuration.

“BlueBolt provides installers with the ability to communicate with complex AV systems from their most fundamental level of control-their power sources-from anywhere in the world,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman, in a statement. ” BlueBolt empowers installers by reducing service calls and allowing them to provide improved service with immediate response to system issues, even if they’re at another install.”

According to the company, BlueBolt allows individual outlets or outlet banks to be power-cycled from a Web browser or Web-enabled mobile device. For Internet routers, outlets can be assigned to automatically power cycle if an Internet connection is lost. BlueBolt’s modular design allows multiple products and feature sets to be controlled using a single access point and interface. Users can monitor voltage and current consumption in real time or track them over a period of time, while the interface automatically sends notifications whenever it detects power anomalies.

BlueBolt is scheduled to be available in select Panamax/Furman products in Q4 2009.
