Panasonic recently announced the PT-FW430 Series projectors, a new family of LCD projectors. The PT-FW430U features native WXGA (1280×800) resolution and 3,500 lumens of brightness, while the PT-FX400U offers XGA (1,024×768) resolution and 4,000 lumens of brightness. The projectors’ Daylight View Premium feature measures surrounding illumination with a built-in ambient light sensor and corrects the image in real time. Detail Clarity Processor 3, a Panasonic image correction circuit, enhances each area of the screen.

According to company officials, the reengineered lamps of the PT-FW430 Series projectors deliver up to 6,000 hours of life and can also be used in Panasonic’s PT-FW300, PT-FW200, and PT-FW100 Series projectors. By standardizing lamps, Panasonic said it hopes to allow IT departments to reduce their inventory of replacement parts, resulting in cost savings for corporations, educational institutions, and others. The projectors’ design makes it easy to replace lamps when necessary without having to remove the projector from its ceiling mount, according to the company.

A dust-resistant, sealed design protects important optical components from dust particles, the company said. In addition, the Panasonic PT-FW430 Series projectors are equipped with a new Eco Filter that features a lifespan of up to 12,000 hours.

The PT-FW430 Series projectors are equipped with a 2x zoom lens and a horizontal/vertical lens shift that makes it possible to move the projected image without moving the projector. This enables IT and facilities professionals to remove existing devices and install the PT-FW430 Series projectors in an existing mount, according to Panasonic.

Panasonic incorporated both HDMI and DVI-I inputs in the new projector series. For added flexibility, a wired LAN connection enables remote operation, while software is available for managing multiple Panasonic projectors from a single PC.

By installing an optional module (ET-WM200U), users can send presentation to the projectors wirelessly. In addition, presenters can share the Easy Wireless Stick (ET-UW200), an optional accessory, and pass it along from one laptop computer to another during collaboration sessions. Users can now also download a wireless projection application for the iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch via the iTunes App Store. The application makes it possible to project PDF and JPEG images from those devices to the PT-FW430 Series projectors.

The Eco Management function of the PT-FW430 Series projectors lowers power consumption by intelligently adjusting the status of the devices according to ambient light conditions and absence of input signals, company officials said. Overall, the PT-FW430 Series consumes 0.3W in Eco Standby Mode.

“An increasing number of businesses are putting in place various policies and procedures to reduce their environmental impact,” said Scott Wellington, product marketing manager at Panasonic Solutions Company, in a statement. “With a number of new features of the PT-FW430 Series projectors, including the Eco Filter, reengineered lamps that last for up to 6,000 hours, and the Eco Management function, we are confident that we will deliver better energy-saving benefits to our customers.”

Both projectors are available now for $3,899 (PT-FX400U) and $3,999 (PT-FW-430U).
