Philips Pronto Revs Up Control Interface

Philips Pronto, which makes two-way control solutions for the home, launched a new user interface to complement the company’s line of controllers.

Pronto UI

The new interface, which is currently available to Pronto dealers, allows integrators to configure personalized and custom user interfaces for their Pronto controllers. Because the new UI seamlessly integrates with Pronto’s ProntoEdit Professional software, integrators can get a custom look without spending hours in the design process, according to the company.

Five interface themes have been created, each modeled after a different brand of sports car. The new interface builder also includes a full image gallery that allows integrators to build their own interface using the included buttons and backgrounds.

The new standard interface includes various templates for the most commonly used control activities, such as multiroom lighting control, as well as HVAC and shade control. Two-way control is also possible for tuners and the HVAC system.

When users tap the start button, they will hear a roaring car engine as the macro is executing. The car logo on the home page allows instant access to the Pronto’s panel system settings, and the battery gauge and WiFi signal strength are redesigned to look like the car’s gas gauges. Transport activities on the controller have been designed to look like a speed needle and have several positions corresponding to different functions. The interface even features a leather look as its background.

Different activities feature different background images of the same car. For example, the car’s headlights control the room’s lighting control and the car’s dashboard radio controls the room’s audio. Multiroom user interfaces are implemented in the lighting and HVAC control activities by using the rotary wheel to scroll through different rooms. With the ProntoScript application modules, the two-way IP communications allows users to download photo albums and check the weather, all from their control panel.

The new user interfaces are currently available for Pronto’s TSU9400, TSU9600 and TSU9800 and are available from the Pronto Professional website, which is for authorized Pronto dealers only. Dealers should contact their sales representative to obtain access to the password protected file/site.
