PRO AV and ARCHITECT magazines, published by Hanley Wood LLC, and InfoComm International, the leading nonprofit association serving the professional AV communications industry worldwide, announced 15 winning projects in the fourth annual PRO AV Spotlight Awards program.
The Spotlight Awards recognize the best professional audio/video installations designed for corporate, education, entertainment, government, and other markets. This year, for the first time, two separate AV companies won awards for working on the same project. Both AVI Systems of Eden Prairie, Minn., and R2W Inc. of Las Vegas, were recognized for their work on the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
Entries were judged by a panel of PRO AV, ARCHITECT and ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING editors, contributors, and AV systems integrators and consultants. Winners had to demonstrate effective collaboration among integrators, designers, architects, and end-users, as well as technical innovation and design excellence.
“This was perhaps the strongest field of entries we’ve ever had for the Spotlight Awards,” said Brad Grimes, editor of PRO AV and PRO AV Online. “It’s clear from these winners–and from all the entries–that audiovisual systems continue to play a more prominent role in the way organizations communicate. For example, you don’t have to be in the entertainment business to entertain. Corporations–and even the federal government–are employing AV technology to engage the general public in ways they never have before.”
This is the second year that PRO AV and ARCHITECT magazines have partnered with InfoComm International to produce the 2011 Spotlight Awards. PRO AV and InfoComm International will host a ceremony to recognize the winners at the InfoComm 2011 trade show in Orlando, Fla., June 15-17. The ceremony will be held June 16 at 4:30 p.m. EDT at the InfoComm International booth #3855.
“Once again, the winners of the PRO AV Spotlight Awards have developed some of the most innovative projects in integrated AV design,” said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., Executive Director and CEO, InfoComm International. “The winners are a testament to the value that highly-capable AV professionals bring to the built environment.”
