The new SF-24V Vacuum Tube Stereo Ribbon Microphone from Royer Labs is designed for stereo and distance applications.
The new SF-24V Vacuum Tube Stereo Ribbon Microphone from Royer Labs is designed for stereo and distance applications. Using a dual-vacuum tube design, the SF-24V has greater headroom and faster transient response than Royer’s SF-24 Stereo Active Ribbon, the company says. The SF-24V has two coincident ribbon elements fi xed at 45 degrees left and right of center for Blumlein X-Y and M-S recording. According to the company, the ribbon elements are unaffected by varying mic preamplifi er loads, heat, or humidity, and are compatible with almost all mic preamps. The mic’s seven-conductor cable plugs directly into the power supply with two 3-pin male XLR output connectors. Price; $5,895. Royer Labs. 818-847-0121.
