RTI to Show New Control, Audio Switching Products
Control product manufacturer Remote Technologies (RTI) plans to showcase several new products at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas, including the ST-7 universal controller, RK-10 in-wall controller, and AD-4 four-zone distributed audio matrix switcher.
Control product manufacturer Remote Technologies (RTI) plans to showcase several new products at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas, including the ST-7 universal controller, RK-10 in-wall controller, and AD-4 four-zone distributed audio matrix switcher.
The ST-7 is a two-way-enabled controller that features a 7-inch widescreen LCD display with an integrated capacitive touchscreen. For simplified navigation and Wi-Fi web browsing, the ST-7 integrates a trackball and customizable backlight coloring to indicate different functions, while 13 configurable hard buttons provide intuitive control. An integrated microphone and stereo loudspeakers are designed to support intercom over IP.
Using ZigBee RF technology, the ST-7 is also capable of two-way communication with a variety of electronic devices, including thermostats, lighting control, security, AV distribution systems, and media servers, according to the company. The tablet has the flexibility of multiple docking options for wireless, in-wall, or tabletop configurations. Premium docks feature an electronic locking mechanism with password protection for added security against unauthorized use or removal.
The RK-10 in-wall controller is designed for classroom, boardroom, MDU, or household installations. It features a 10.2-inch TFT widescreen LCD touchscreen and operates as a flat-panel PC, running Windows Embedded Standard OS with an Intel Atom processor for multitasking, Web browsing, and document viewing. A built-in wired and wireless Ethernet connection allows access to video from network security cameras, music or video playback, and control from hard drive servers.
Acting as an extension to RTI’s control systems, the AD-4 distributed audio matrix switcher offers a solution for distributing music in a residential or commercial installation. Containing both matrix switching pre-amp and a built-in power amplifier, the AD-4 can augment four local source inputs with four remote source inputs, such as a bedroom CD player, iPod docking station, or an office PC. A single Cat-5 cable connects the remote source’s audio and infrared signals to the AD-4. To meet the needs of larger projects, the matrix switcher can be expanded to eight zones by cascading two units together, according to RTI.
RTI also plans to display its vIRsa Mouse IR emitter and Virtual Panel. The low-profile IR emitter adjusts to almost any installation environment with a flexible film adhesive that conforms to curved surfaces. For troubleshooting, a separate holder remains attached, easing removal and replacement of the emitter. A blue LED flasher offer increased visibility but may be hidden during normal operation. A translucent PCB improves the integrity of electrical connections while a built-in resistor protects against over-driving.
RTI’s virtual panel web interface converts almost any PC with Internet access to a virtual control panel. To activate, users connect to the interface online and establish access to their RTI system and connected devise, gaining the ability to monitor and control their systems remotely. The virtual panel allows tasks such as adjusting thermostats and monitoring security systems to be performed from almost anywhere in the world.
