Runco Enables Digital Cinema in the Home

Runco announced the launch of its Digital Cinema Concierge for certified Runco dealers. This new offering enables Runco dealers to provide clients with complete projection and media server systems, custom-engineered and built to specifications to meet the needs of individual clients and certified to meet the stringent standards of Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), according to the company.
Digital Cinema Initiatives is a joint venture of Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal, and Warner Bros Studios to establish a standard of technical specifications, performance, and quality control for first-run commercial digital cinemas.
Company officials say Runco sales engineers will personally review plans for every new installation and develop a complete solution tailor-made for each project, complete with a DCI-compatible projector ideally suited for the job, lens options, and a proprietary Runco Digital Cinema Media Server (DCMS). The Runco DCMS is compliant with DCI specifications, enabling the playback of locked content, including Texas Instruments (TI) CineLink 2 encryption, MXF, and JPEG2000 Interop specifications.In compliance with student standards, it offers 2048-bit RSA encryptions and forensic watermarking support with Civolution NexGuard.
The Runco DCMS will support both DCinema and ECinema content formats in 2K and 1080p resolutions. Its web-based user interface shows status and can allow for transport control, scheduling, content ingest, key management, media management, as well as setup and maintenance, according to the companty. The Runco DCMS also enables 3D playback, including via an optional Dolby 3D upgrade.
“Our goal is to provide our dealers with all of the tools and support they need to deliver the ultimate digital cinema experience for the select clients who have very large private cinemas,” said Jennifer Davis, vice president of marketing for Runco, in a statement.
Runco says each system will be set up at the factory and tested in a replicate environment to the eventual home to ensure perfect performance. It will then be shipped to the site where Runco will also provide on-site installation and calibration services, as well two years’ worth of on-site service and repair as part of its PremierCare program.
