Samsung Techwin America’s Electronic Imaging Division plans to demonstrate the new SAMCAM 860 document camera this week at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas. Some of the document camera’s features include a webcam, macro and micro capabilities, and noise-free images.

“The SAMCAM 860 enhances any active learning experience and helps get students engaged in lesson material,” said Richard Bellomy, vice president of sales for the Electronic Imaging Division, in a statement. “Our goal with its introduction was to provide schools with a better choice in low-cost document cameras so schools don’t have to sacrifice image quality, features, or durability to get an affordable document camera.”

The SAMCAM 860 boasts a 6x optical and 8x digital zoom for a combined 48x focal length, SXGA display output and support for movies with audio at 30 frames per second, compatibility with webcam applications such as Skype, built-in macro and microscope modes, and high-resolution CMOS technology.

Samsung Techwin will also display previously released document camera models, such as the UF-130ST/DX series with 720p HD output and the SDP-900DXA.

The SAMCAM 860 will have a price point of less than $799, company officials said.
