Smart-AVI, which makes digital signage content creation, management and delivery solutions, released two new 16-port switches, the DV-SW16 and the DVN-16P. Both are capable of switching high-resolution DVI-D video output from 16 computers located up to 30 feet away from a central console, according to the company. The DVN-16P also handles stereo audio and USB 2.0. The switching functions of both units can be controlled via the front panel or remotely using RS-232, infrared, USB, or TCP/IP.

Both units support resolutions up to 1920×1200, including HDTV 1080p/60. They also offer management of several types of displays using EDID detection.

The DVN-16P’s use transparent USB 2.0 means users can use any USB 2.0 device from the console, company officials said. This means a user can share a flash memory drive, video camera, or other USB device among 16 computers from a central console, eliminating the need to access the individual computers locally.

“These additions to our DVNET family are the latest solution for switching multiple AV signals. They are designed to offer the highest quality signal transmission,” said Albert Cohen, president of Smart-AVI, in a statement. “They are designed to simplify the management of AV signals from several computers by bringing the control to a central location.”
