Stampede to Distribute Panasonic

On the heels of AV distributor Electrograph’s announcement it would liquidate its assets, Stampede, a value-added distributor of presentation and home theater technology, announced it would begin distributing Panasonic professional displays in the United States.

On the heels of AV distributor Electrograph’s announcement it would liquidate its assets, Stampede, a value-added distributor of presentation and home theater technology, announced this week it would begin distributing Panasonic professional displays in the United States. Panasonic had also been an Electrograph brand.

Stampede Canada has been distributing Panasonic Canada displays for years, according to the company, but the new agreement marks the first time Stampede will be able to offer Panasonic products to its U.S. dealers.

“Stampede was a natural choice to represent our displays in the U.S.,” said Andrew Nelkin, president of Panasonic Professional Display Company, in a statement. “Stampede…[is] in the business of educating dealers about products and helping them succeed.”

“We have long awaited the opportunity to spec Panasonic’s displays for our U.S. dealers,” said Kevin Kelly, president and chief operating officer of Stampede, in a statement. “From now on, when we spec jobs for our dealers, we are going to be able to pull recommendations from Panasonic’s line of displays, like the new PD 12 series, hitting the market in June.”

Panasonic’s PD 12 series of plasma displays provide a more cost-effective solution when extensive connectivity options are not needed, according to the company. The 42-inch TH-42PD12UK and 50-inch TH-50PD12UK include fixed terminals to support component, composite, S-video, or PC (D-sub 15) inputs. The 720p 12-series plasmas offer a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 and an estimated service life of 100,000 hours.

Panasonic’s Professional Display line will be highlighted in the 2009 edition of Stampede’s Big Book of AV, say company officials.
