Stewart Audio, which makes power amplifiers and audio equipment for sound reinforcement applications, announced the new AV100 power amplifier. Company officials said the AV100 is designed for commercial and residential integrators and would be well suited to musicians looking for audio performance.
The AV100’s competitive pricing ($499), lightweight design, and convection cooling make the AB Class power amplifier good for installation in boardrooms, classrooms, AV projection systems, audio/video production suites, project studios, and broadcast environments. The company said it’s ideal for fixed installations that have amplifiers located in the listening environment. With the available pole and universal mounting brackets, the AV100 can be pole-mounted, attached behind flat-panel displays, and recessed in lecterns.
It comes in a half-rack form factor so it can fit where space is at a premium. The 100W monaural amplifier is optimized to drive 4- and 8-Ohm loads and, with the inclusion of a low-pass filter, is well suited for driving subwoofers. The AV100 also uses an efficient switch-mode power supply for its conversion of electrical power, company officials said. The AV100 provides a push button switch to toggle between full range (30Hz to 20kHz) and subwoofer (30Hz to 150Hz) modes and provides LEDs for visual confirmation of power and clipping. The rear panel provides RCA- and banana plug-type connectors.
