IP video technology company VBrick Systems recently announced a partnership with LifeSize, a division of Logitech, to extend high-definition IP video delivery within the enterprise. Company officials said the combination of VBrick’s Enterprise IP Video Communications Platform and LifeSize’s new HD video recording and streaming product, LifeSize Video Center, gives users new abilities to create and distribute video content across the enterprise and over the Internet.

IP streaming solutions are increasingly being used to extend the reach of pro AV systems.

According to VBrick, the combined solution offers new advantages for customers, including increased participation in content creation, scalable distribution of content across the enterprise and over the Internet, and support of all enterprise video applications. Company officials said that as video communications become more mainstream, one of the biggest challenges faced companies is how to allow more people to generate rich media content on their own. Corporate functions such as marketing and human resources want to easily and rapidly generate video content. In educational environments, instructors must be able to integrate video into the classroom environment without disrupting the flow of their teaching.

With the combined solution, customers can use their LifeSize videoconference units to create and record rich media material, as well as conduct hybrid videoconferencing and streaming sessions. For instance, executives in different locations can participate in a videoconference call while simultaneously streaming the meeting to the entire company. User access and workflow is simplified through VBrick’s recently announced integration of live and on-demand IP video with Microsoft’s Office Communicator or SharePoint products.

“Partnering with VBrick Systems moves LifeSize one step closer to our goal of interoperating with the key players in the broader enterprise video communications space,” said Matt Collier, senior vice president of corporate development at LifeSize, in a statement. “Integrating VBrick’s enterprise IP video streaming solutions with the LifeSize Video Center will provide joint customers an easy way to record high-quality videos and centrally manage them with scalable broadcasting options for sharing innovative, business-critical content with their employees, partners and other parties.”

For distribution to multiple enterprise locations, customers can deploy VBrick HD Reflectors and Distribution Servers that optimize bandwidth and reduce network bottlenecks. For Internet distribution, the VBrick Online Streaming Service (VBoss) receives the stream from the LifeSize Video Center and formats it for Internet streaming.

“We will continue to partner with technology companies like LifeSize to provide the powerful, cost-efficient IP video streaming solutions our customers need,” said John Shaw, chief operating officer of VBrick Systems, in statement. “Our partnership with LifeSize demonstrates VBrick’s commitment to bolstering the collaboration capabilities that are unique to videoconferencing.”

The combined LifeSize and VBrick Systems capabilities will be available in the coming months.
