Worldwide Pro Displays Market to Top $14 Billion by 2011

Although the major application for pro displays in 2006 was “conference room” systems for collaborative and video conferencing, that application is expected to diminish slightly as other areas pick up momentum, the report notes. Specifically, indoor venue applications (such as arenas, auditoriums, cinemas, museums, theme parks, hospitality, casinos, and restaurants) will provide more than half of the revenue by 2011. About 20 percent of total revenue from pro display applications will be generated by retail signage applications.
iSuppli is especially optimistic about the hospitality market over the next five years. The U.S. hospitality and leisure industry is currently in an upward cycle, which began after 2004. This up-cycle is expected to last until 2011. Khatri notes that upscale hotel operators are willing to pay a premium for ambience, using flat-panel displays to provide quality in-room entertainment services, such as HDTV and gaming. Also, interactive in-room television networks are on the rise – promoting HD content and displays in the hospitality sector.
