While there’s obvious competition in the conferencing systems category, Yamaha generated a buzz in the back corner of Hall E with some innovative features and slick product styling.

Yamaha Electronics Corp. was at InfoComm for the first time, showing a new category of product for this Japanese electronics giant. While there’s obvious competition in the conferencing systems category, Yamaha generated a buzz in the back corner of Hall E with some innovative features and slick product styling. Its new ProjectPhone series includes some interesting applications of loudspeaker and microphone arrays combined with camera control. This brings some interesting possibilities to conferencing, including PTZ camera auto-location to the talker. The PJP-50R is a microphone/loudspeaker desk-top unit with 16 mic elements and four undermounted loudspeakers, and is equipped for IP-network connectivity. U.S. list price is $1,299.
