Two-way Loudspeaker Design Provides Flexible Time Coherence

Thiel is bringing high performance to a more affordable price point. The SCS4 left/center/right speaker ($1,000 each) is a two-way design that uses the company’s Coherent Source technology that’s said to provide time coherence regardless of listening position. The SCS4 incorporates a low-distortion, high-output metal diaphragm 6.5in. woofer mounted with a 1in. metal-dome tweeter in a coaxial design. Thiel says the short coil/long gap copper-stabilized motor system reduces distortion. The neodymium magnet improves efficiency, which is rated at 90dB. Dimensions are 17.5″x 8.5″x11.25″. Finishes include natural, dark cherry, and black ash.
