More Corporate AV news from The Briefing Room

AMX disclosed new features for the next version of its popular Resource Management Suite (RMS)—the most robust software platform available for managing and monitoring electronic equipment and scheduling meeting/class rooms. The company also announced six RMS Room Kits, which bundle AMX software and hardware for discounted pricing and easy ordering.

RMS is an enterprise-grade family of software solutions enabling administrators and managers of AMX control systems to manage and monitor the audio/video (A/V) equipment installed in business, education, government, entertainment, broadcast, houses of worship, and residential environments from one central location.

The software also allows users to schedule and track meeting/class rooms in a single building or across a campus using Microsoft Outlook/Exchange or AMX’s web-based RMS Calendar. Often, however, impromptu meetings occur in available rooms that have not previously been scheduled. With RMS 3.1, meeting organizers will be able to enter room reservations into the RMS system on an ad hoc basis—a feature enhancement that fills a current void in the market and addresses a very significant user need.

New RMS Features
RMS 3.1 offers exciting new scheduling options for a more convenient and flexible user experience. For example, users will now be able to schedule impromptu meetings from an AMX Modero touchpanel installed inside or outside the room. Additionally, meeting attendees will be able to use the same Modero touchpanel installed in the room to control its audio/video equipment and environmental elements or extend meeting room reservations on demand. In both scenarios, RMS will automatically update the room’s schedule with Outlook/Exchange/RMS Calendars to reflect any changes to availability.

RMS 3.1 will also help minimize meeting intrusions and interruptions via its new virtual doorbell and digital signage option. By pressing a doorbell icon on a room’s external Modero touchpanel, its occupants will hear a doorbell WAV file and see a popup on the internal Modero touchpanel notifying them that someone has requested their attention. Further, when complete privacy is desired, meeting organizers will have the option to display “Do Not Disturb” signage on the external touch panel.
