Applied Optoelectronics, manufacturer of laser diodes, photodetectors, and optical modules for fiber-optic communications systems, has introduced DWDM transmitter lasers capable of 200km transmission distances.

AOI says its proprietary laser technology is the key to ensuring the high performance and reliability of these new devices. These DWDM lasers feature:

  • Greater than 200km (3,600ps/nm) transmission in a single-mode fiber
  • Integrated high-speed, low-dispersion penalty distributed-feedback (DFB), multiquantum-well (MQW) laser
  • Compatibility with direct modulation at up to 2.5Gbps for OC-48/STM-16 applications
  • Availability in the full range of C-band ITU-T G.692 recommended wavelengths at 100GHz spacing
  • Hermetically sealed, industry-standard 14-pin butterfly package with optical isolator
  • 25Ω RF input impedance
  • Compliance with GR 468 reliability specifications.
