Australian Monitor recently introduced the latest addition to its acclaimed Installation Series of rackmountable mixers, the MX61 and MX81. The cost-competitive mixers boast six (MX61) or eight (MX81) channels of preamplification in a single rackspace with the ability to switch between XLR line-level, XLR mic-level (with or without phantom power), or dual RCA inputs. Like all Australian Monitor products, the MX61 and MX81 will be distributed in North and South America by Sennheiser Electronic Corporation.

The MX61 and MX81 both feature a recessed trim control (+/-15dB), a dual-color signal present indication LED, and 100Hz and 10kHz shelving EQs on each channel. Users can configure input one as pre- or post-master so that it can serve as an override or emergency paging channel. A single line-level XLR provides master-volume controlled output, while dual mono RCA jacks provide a record output that is unaffected by the EQs or the master volume. A headphone output is internally switchable to be pre- or post-master.

“The MX Series mixers are uniquely tailored to meet the needs of installers, elegantly adapting to particular input sources in any scenario—at a price that can’t be ignore,” says David McNutt, team leader for installed sound at Sennheiser. “Our commitment to the needs of installers is evidenced from the big things, like our mixers’ remarkably low 90dB signal-to-noise ratio, to the small things, like their handy ‘fiddle-protection’ faceplate that provides space to label each input.

Both the MX61 and MX81 will operate on 110V AC or on 24V DC via an external power source. Optional remote VCA, tone generator, or muting boards are available.

Australian Monitor is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, and additionally maintains warehouses worldwide in Asia, Western Europe, and the United States. The company’s continually expanding range of sound contracting products includes mixer amplifiers, power amplifiers, distribution amplifiers, mic/line mixers, zone paging systems, and ceiling speakers, as well as associated products.
