Crestron‘s eagerly awaited Multimedia Presentation System line has begun shipping, with the MPS-100 first off the line. Building on the heritage of Crestron’s hugely successful MP2, the MPS-100 integrates the multimedia switcher, audio processor and amplifier, and control system into an easy-to-install 2RU rackmount package.

Right out of the box, the MPS-100 provides switching of two video inputs and three RGBHV sources. Each video input can be configured as composite, S-Video, or component supporting HD video sources up to 1080i. The DB15HD inputs support RGBHV signals up to WUXGA (1920 X 1200 pixels). Two outputs are provided, each independently switchable to support dual displays, or a single audience display plus preview. One output utilizes conventional BNC and DB15HD connectors comprising separate composite, Y/C, Y/Pb/Pr, and RGBHV signals. The second output takes advantage of your choice of QuickMedia or CH Cat-5 Balanced Video, providing a super simple interface for connecting to a Crestron touchpanel, or extending several hundred feet to a display device using low-cost Cat-5 type wire.

Five balanced line-level audio inputs are included to accommodate a wide range of program sources, with four stereo outputs available. The primary output is available as speaker or line-level, with an additional fixed-level line output provided for recording, teleconferencing, or assistive listening. The QuickMedia output carries a stereo audio signal as well, which is independently switchable from the other three outputs. The MPS-100’s built-in power amplifier may be ordered as either 20-watts per channel at 8ω stereo, or 40W at 70V mono. A 100V version is also planned for the near future.

Input/Output selection and volume control is provided right on the front of the MPS-100, enabling easy operation right out of the box. Basic parameters such as input level compensation, video input configuration, bass/treble adjustment, and network settings are also easily set from the front panel. Plug-and-play support is also provided for several Crestron keypads including the APAD LCD Controller and C2N-FTB FlipTop Control Center, as well as Crestron’s iLux and infiNET lighting controls affording a very easy total room control solution.

Numerous control ports on the rear of the MPS-100 enable integration with a roomful of audio, video, and environmental devices. Native Cresnet and Ethernet handle the addition of any Crestron touchpanel, plus full support of Crestron’s e-Control2 suite of IP control solutions and RoomView Remote Asset Management.
