Touchscreen

TouchSystems continues to grow its executive-level line of displays with the addition of a multi-touch 46in. solution. The 46in. touchscreen, based on NEC’s X462S, is integrated with an infrared touch technology. The display can be purchased as a dual-touch or multi-touch (six points) solution. The X46 features LED-backlighting, which decreases energy consumption and total cost of ownership, and a full HD LCD display, ensuring crisp color and images. The touchscreen also comes with built-in speakers, a carbon footprint meter, a scheduler, and internal temperature sensors with self-diagnosis tools and fans. Another notable feature is the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) slot, which simplifies the installation process and makes the maintenance of digital signage content much easier. The display’s aesthetics, durability, ease of use, and lowered energy consumption allow it to be used in a number of verticals including retail and hospitality environments.

Encoder/Decoder

At the upcoming DSE 2014, Montréal-based Matrox will present its Maevex 5100 series H.264 encoders/decoders. The Matrox Maevex 5100 series delivers excellent streaming quality at a fraction of the price of traditional encode/decode systems, according to the company. Maevex video-over-IP solutions enable the extension of full-HD-quality 1080p60 video over standard IP networks. Bitrates are user definable between 100Kbps and 25Mbps, allowing for multiple streams on both 100Mb and 1000Mb standard networks. Maevex H.264 encoders and decoders capture, stream, and decode video from a variety of sources, and even allow for software-based decoding on non-Maevex devices. Maevex units come bundled with Matrox PowerStream software, allowing for remote management of Maevex devices and enabling a wide variety of user-defined stream-management features, including unicast and multicast networking.

Encoder

R.L. Drake’s new DSE 2 PLUS dual multiplexing encoder combines encoding and QAM modulation capabilities within a single, standalone unit. The DSE 2 PLUS can be deployed to simplify HD video distribution for various applications across the worship, education, healthcare, government, and hospitality markets. The DSE 2 PLUS digitally encodes two uncompressed HDMI, high-resolution component video or VGA inputs to MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264, and then uses an internal multiplexing QAM modulator and low-noise upconverter to enable distribution of two HD channels over existing legacy fiber and coaxial networks. The bandwidth savings allow users either to double the HD channels they can deliver, or to cut the bandwidth required in half to deliver multiple channels. As a result, DSE 2 PLUS users can leverage existing networks of digital HD displays to provide informational video, revenue-generating advertising, or promotional content in a vibrant high-resolution format.

Processor

SVSi new voLANte VWP120 windowing processor is a 1RU rackmount appliance that connects to a voLANte video network and accepts any four video streams as input. Plug one network cable into the VWP120 to access video sources and distribute the combined sources anywhere on the network. Input streams flow into the processor through this network cable and the composite video streams flow out through the same cable back to any voLANte display. Each input can be cropped, scaled, and positioned according to stored presets (such as quad, window-in-window, 3+1, etc.) or in any user-defined configuration. The combined output video stream is then routed to one or more displays at HD 1080p or CG 1600×1200 resolution. The VWP120 functions as a 4×1 windowing processor and can be stacked to give 7×1, 10×1, 13×1, 16×1, or higher capability.
