A newly designed matrix switching system from Gefen in Woodland Hills, Calif., performs a valuable role—integrating multiple computers among multiple DVI displays and USB connections. The new 4×4 DVI KVM Matrix enables four cross-platform computers to be accessed independently from four separate locations, viewed on any four high-resolution display that uses DVI connectors.

High-speed USB 2.0 components are switched along with the video for each computer, giving full KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) functionality. Users can also access other USB peripherals with the ability to connect multiple workstations within the same location. Installation is simple: connections to and from the unit provide four DVI and USB inputs and four DVI and USB outputs as well as a remote-control connection.

To operate, users assign any computer to any DVI display. This selection can be performed using the IR remote or the RS-232 serial connection. Switching between sources and displays occurs in milliseconds, with full KVM access guaranteed.

Offering an attractive and simple architecture to network multiple computer systems, the Gefen 4×4 DVI KVM Matrix supports multiple resolutions up to 1920×1200 for computer monitors. The Gefen 4×4 DVI KVM Matrix (MSRP $999) comes with the RMT-16 IR remote control unit, four DVI and USB cables, rack ears and power supply.
