LifeSize, the high-definition video communications company, announced that Guest-Tek, a provider of IP-based technology solutions for the hospitality industry, is furnishing LifeSize Room systems to hotels for enhancing meeting facilities and services provided to hotel clients. As the first Guest-Tek customer to implement LifeSize Room, the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, Calif., can now offer its clients a significantly improved conferencing experience when holding on-property meetings and events. LifeSize Room is a high definition video communications product that allows geographically distributed participants in multiple locations to experience more effective, true-to-life interactions.

“The ability to guarantee a successful high quality videoconference to our customers is of critical importance to us at our hotel,” says Jay Patel, manager of information systems at Hyatt Regency Irvine. “With LifeSize high-definition video communications and Guest-Tek’s exemplary service and support, we are able to do just that.”

In the past, some hotels would supply videoconferencing over ISDN to clients needing these services for connecting remote participants to events being held onsite. However, the expense of provisioning ISDN bandwidth, along with the poor quality of low-resolution systems, would often result in dissatisfied clients and minimal to no usage. Guest-Tek was interested in finding a videoconferencing solution that gave its hospitality customers an opportunity to leverage the IP services it was already providing them for Internet access in meeting rooms. They sought a solution that would deliver superior quality at a cost-effective price and allow hotels to offer state-of-the-art technology.

LifeSize channel partner Canadian Communication Products is supplying Guest-Tek with the LifeSize Room systems. Guest-Tek has added LifeSize Room to the wide range of Internet-based products and services that it offers to Hyatt Regency Irvine and other hotels. This includes reliable high-speed Internet, Video on Demand, IP telephony, and industry leading support for these services in guest rooms and meeting spaces.
