HaiVision demonstrated its new Makito Decoder at the 2010 NAB Show—the first IP video appliance dedicated to the high-performance, high-density decoding challenge, according to the company. This latest addition to the Makito family supports H.264 at up to 1080p60 high definition and the delivery of video over IP with less than 100 milliseconds of end-to-end latency when mated with the company’s flagship Makito Encoder. The Makito Decoder can be deployed as a standalone appliance or within HaiVision’s multiblade chassis, supporting up to six units within 1RU. The Makito Decoder uniquely supports the performance decoding of computer formats as encoded by Makito encoders at up to 1920×1080 resolution and full frame rates in addition to all standard HD resolutions up to 1080p60. Supporting HaiVision’s end-to-end secure and resilient IP video distribution, the Makito Decoder also supports forward error correction (FEC) recovery, adjustable IP buffering, and 128-bit AES decryption.
