TV One Cat-5 VGA Extenders Send Signals Long Distance

Nov 17, 2005 8:00 AM

New Cat-5 VGA extenders recently introduced in TV One‘s One-task product group have made sending VGA signals over long distances via standard Cat-5 cable faster, easier, and more affordable.

Comprising both transmitter and receiver, the 1T-VGA-CAT system is capable of encoding and decoding VGA signals with resolutions of up to 1280×1024 for remote viewing using a single Cat-5 cable. With the ability to travel distances of close to 600ft., a single transmitter/receiver combination can be used to provide an image to a single VGA monitor or projector.

Incorporating all the features of the 1T-VGA-CAT system, the TV One-task 1T-VGA-CAT-XL doubles the range of operation, to almost 1,000ft., and provides a transmitter fitted with VGA loop-through. For applications requiring multiple displays, the product group model 1T-VGA4-CAT-TXL and model 1T-VGA8-CAT-TXL transmitters are built to handle the encoding of VGA signals with up to 1280×1024 resolution and to feed four and eight Cat-5 cables respectively, over distances of close to 1,000ft. VGA loop-through is also provided with these units.

Designed specifically for use with the 1T-VGA4-CAT-TXL and 1T-VGA8-CAT-TXL transmitters, the 1T-VGA-CAT-RXL receiver, as with all other receivers within the TV One-task Cat-5 VGA extender family, is equipped with its own equalization and gain controls. A dedicated 1T-VGA-CAT RXL receiver is required for each VGA display device used in a given system.

Published list costs for TV One’s Cat-5 VGA extenders are £165 (€ 243) (1T-VGA-CAT), £225 (€ 331) (1T-VGA-CAT-XL), £150 (€ 221) (1T-VGA4-CAT-TXL), £195 (€ 287) (1T-VGA8-CAT-TXL) and £150 (€ 221) (1T-VGA-CAT-RXL).

To correct for RGB delay problems commonly associated with Cat-5 cable runs of more than 200ft., TV One also provides the 1T-RGB-DELAY skew corrector, combating skew that causes RGB images to be overlaid incorrectly. Placed between the host device and the Cat-5 transmitter, the 1T-RGB-DELAY can be used to delay discrete RGB signals as required, to bring the image back into correct registration at the remote location. Once all adjustments are finalized, they can be locked out to avoid unintentional changes, unit list cost £165 (€ 243).
