InfoComm International recently visited the American Institute of Architects Exposition in San Francisco to promote the value of the CTS credential to architects. Tony Warner, CTS-D, LEED AP, of RTKL Associates provided booth education sessions on green AV and partnering with an AV Professional. InfoComm also promoted its microsite for architects and the building community, www.ctsforav.com, and debuted a new brochure designed to communicate the value of AV professionals to architects.

InfoComm China 2009 Receives U.S. DOC Certification

InfoComm China 2009, the leading tradeshow for pro AV and systems integration in China, is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Commerce has certified the show for its Trade Fair Certification program. This means that the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) will actively assist American companies participating in the event, which will be held in the China Agricultural Exhibition Center in Beijing Nov. 9-11, 2009. The Department of Commerce will also help promote the event through its regional network of offices.

“We’re delighted and proud to have the continued support of the U.S. DOC,” says Terry Friesenborg, senior vice president for international development, InfoComm International. “This signals that the department recognizes the market potential in China for pro AV systems and confirms that InfoComm China is the right platform for companies to launch their latest AV technologies to the China market.”

InfoComm China is an affiliate event of InfoComm International—a trade association with worldwide interest in expanding knowledge and growth of pro AV technology and applications. InfoComm made its foray into Asia more than a decade ago and has sponsored educational and marketing events especially for the pro AV markets in Singapore, Hong Kong, and China. The 2008 InfoComm Asia-Pacific AV Market Definition and Strategy Study forecast that the Chinese pro AV market will reach $5.7 billion in 2010, growing at a 16 percent compound annual growth rate. The study also indicated that the market for high-end pro AV products is now growing faster than the IT- and technology-related markets. China is expected to overtake Japan as the largest market for pro AV products and services by 2010.

The organizer of InfoComm China 2009 expects that the event will become an essential and opportune platform for pro AV manufacturers, especially as China has begun to show signs of an upturn—the first country to do so in the aftermath of the October 2008 global downturn. China’s economic stimulus package is the largest in the world at $586 billion, or 12 percent of the projected 2009 gross domestic product (GDP). Its GDP grew 9.4 percent in 2008, and the Chinese government is determined to achieve 8 percent growth for 2009.
