CEDIA Is Not All Home Theaters and Audio Systems

Aug 13, 2014 7:03 PM

CEDIA Expo represents the holy grail of products and training for many home technology professionals. With more than 400 exhibitors and 110 CEDIA Training sessions, it’s easy to see why that is the focus for so many attendees. For people who’ve never been to the show or those who think they only need to go to the show every other year, it’s not all about home theaters and audio systems.

This year’s CEDIA Expo includes presentations from thought leaders not just for the residential industry but for the CE industry as a whole. Mike Fasulo, COO and president of Sony, will deliver the opening keynote address. With all the news and updates about 4K that have been announced this year, you’re going to want to hear what he has to say. 4K technology has a broad reach. Todd Thibodeaux, CEO and president of CompTIA, will give the training keynote. Much like 4K, cyber security is a huge topic in the industry. Keeping clients’ information safe on the interwebs is a concern for anyone working with networked appliances. Thibodeaux will discuss the latest cyber security trends and how integrators can worth with IT solution providers to offer a larger suite of tech services to clients.

This year CEDIA has added partner trainings to the lineup. The association has teamed up with ESA, CompTIA, and InfoComm to offer attendees new diverse training at the show. Topics include light commercial, advanced networking, video verification, RRM for security, and security service liabilities.

CEDIA is also offering a line-up of emerging trends classes that are future-focused to introduce you to the upcoming technologies. Learn how these new opportunities will impact your business and how you can prepare. Here are a few you can expect to see:

Inside LEDs: Harnessing the Power of LED Lighting: Learn from a panel of LED lighting experts and get their tips on controls, installations, and engaging clients in this growing and rapidly changing market.

Telemedicine Integration into Homes: Learn how telepresence and emerging technologies can be adapted to and embedded in new and existing homes to optimize residential virtual healthcare.

Future Technologies: The Inside Scoop from Silicon Valley: A CEDIA Expo mainstay taught by a CEDIA legend, this class is your chance to learn about dozens of new technologies that are emerging from the secret labs of Silicon Valley.

This year’s show will be held at the Colorado Convention Center, Sept. 10-13. Visit cedia.net/expo to learn more.
