Having a wide variety skills in your technician tool box is a great way to make sure you’re ready for any job that comes your way. Though you may be an old pro when it comes to commercial projects are you ready for those occasional residential projects that you may get called in for? The residential side has different codes and standards and requires a different set of skills.

Learning new skills on the job site can cost you time and money that you can’t afford to lose. So what’s the solution? How do you get that hands-on professional experience?

CEDIA offers two hands-on training opportunities with EST Basic Residential Boot Camp and Home Theater Boot Camp. Home theaters continue to be one of the largest project categories for electronic systems contractor companies according to the 2011 CEDIA Benchmarking Survey. Home Theater Boot Camp can help equip you with the skills needed to add Home Theaters to your service offerings. Check out some of the other advantages:

Hands-on Learning

Former CEDIA Boot Camp participants have emphasized time and time again how much they enjoy the hands on learning component of CEDIA Boot Camps. Curriculum is structured to include classroom learning as well as time in our lab. But don’t just take our word for it see what Boot Camp attendees shared with us:

“The hands-on exercises as well as the before and after effects of audio and video calibration were most helpful since it gave me the opportunity to experience phenomena that was only familiar from a “book-smart” point of view.” – Home Theater Boot Camp Attendee

“I thoroughly enjoyed Boot Camp and was thankful for the individual attention I got as a total newcomer. This training got me really excited about a career in this industry.” – EST Basic Boot Camp Attendee

Latest Industry Standards and Practices

CEDIA Boot Camps are always being revised to ensure participants are prepared when they enter their next job site. EST Basic Residential Boot Camp covers jobsite safety and residential codes and standards. Home Theater Boot Camp focuses on more advanced standards and practices such as rack configuration and room acoustics.

Options for the Skilled Technician and the Newbie

Brand new to the industry or seasoned veteran, CEDIA has training options for you.CEDIA’s EST Basic Residential Boot Camp is the perfect introduction for those new to the industry looking to learn those fundamental skills such as running cable and distributed audio. On the flip side, Home Theater Boot Camp’s advanced training covers the skills needed to properly install a home theater, including installation of flat-panel displays and speaker placement.
