TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE: Mounts and Racks

Speaker mounting and rigging solutions from Adaptive Technologies Group get installations done easily and direct sound precisely. Multiple rigging designs, including one-way array, two-way array, steerables and gridlink, let you fly one, two, or more speakers together in entire clusters while aiming the sound into the desired locations. Wall and ceiling mounting solutions are also available for precise aiming of sound for both indoor and outdoor applications. Design families include Steerables, U-Series, MultiMount, SwivelMount, SocketMount, and PoleStar. Adaptive designs to safe working load ratings that achieve worry-free rigging configurations and adjustments including dead hangs, down tilt, and pan angles, depending on the specific sound coverage requirements.

The Altinex UT240-128S undertable interconnect unit offers a very low profile hybrid connection point for VGA, HDMI, network (RJ-45), and 12A AC power. Capable of mounting under a table, inside a podium, or on the side of a table leg, the unit makes a flush fit with no need for cutting out a large hole. The compatibility with snap-in connectors gives it a wide range of customized connection possibilities. It can also be fitted with a 3.5mm audio jack for computer and MP3 audio. The unit can power and connect multiple laptop or desktop computers, all while serving out of sight.

The AWR3W Tilt Out Wall Cabinet from AtlasIED is made of 16-gauge CRS for toughness and it can conceal and tuck away cable and gear in a secure spot on the wall. The door is fastened to the box internally with two-pin-style hinges, and it can be opened to one position for operation and to a wider swing at 90 degrees for greater access during equipment installation. Suitable for surface or recessed mounting, the cabinet includes a 3RU panel opening above the main bay for connector panels or power distribution.

Audio Visual Furniture International designed the SYZ42 Economy LCD Monitor Stand with ease of mobility in mind. Its elegantly simple heavy duty steel base allows the whole unit to be tilted onto the rear wheels for movement and tilted back down level to plant it firmly in place, and it lets users of touchscreens get up close to the display. Grommets in the top and bottom allow passing cables inside the unit for a very clean outward appearance. The structure will accommodate 42in. to 60in. displays with a 75lb. weight limit. There are two height settings and the top handle provides good leverage for tilting to move. The whole unit weighs 67lbs. The SYZ84 Mobile Display Stand has four rollers for rapid mobility and the same handy cable grommets as the SYZ42. Designed to accommodate the SMART Kapp 84 capture board, the SYZ84 has a weight limit of 200lbs. on its heavy duty steel base.

AVTEQ’s DynamiQ Wall Stand is a heightadjustable, wall-mounted stand and the perfect solution for interactive displays in the classroom, library, training center, or boardroom. The easy glide mount allows the display to move up or down with a simple touch of the finger, making it ideal for large interactive displays. The ADA-compliant wall stand provides cabling pathways throughout with 3RU of vertical rack space. The panels may be custom skinned in veneer or laminate to match any environment.

With the LVSXU ConnexSys Video Wall Mounting System, Chief Manufacturing has addressed the primary display mounting problems of speed, alignment, serviceability, and rigidity. The displays on each video wall row can be leveled quickly on a single strut channel with no need for horizontal spacers. The displays are attached using tool-free ClickConnect secure latching, and the PowerZone provides six points of tool-free height, tilt, lateral, and depth adjustment in one easy-to-access location at the top of the mount. Also from Chief, the PAC526FBP4 Inwall Storage Box with four receptacle filter and surge is perfect for power access and concealing extra cable. It is equipped with an edge flange that makes it look very good mounted in drywall. The unit’s SurgeX non-sacrificial, multistage filtration and surge protection system protects all the equipment powered from the enclosure.

For high mobility in large displays, Clearone has the Titan Articulating Arm Dual Plasma Cart with its ability to mount two 42in. to 50in. flatscreen displays. The mounting arms support up to 200lbs., and with its steel construction, the whole unit can carry up to 800lbs. of equipment. There is also an integrated camera shelf for conferencing, front and back panel access, nine rack spaces with 22in. depth and 1/2in. casters rated at 200lbs. each. Two of these are fixed and two swivel and brake. The whole structure folds up for transportation and can fit through standard doorways and elevators. The rack front has a removable vented panel.

The Da-Lift Motorized Projector Lift from Da-Lite can handle projectors weighing from 40lbs. to 300lbs. with its all-metal, heavy duty, black weldedsteel construction. The rack and pinion mechanism allows the chain drive to function very quietly and the bottom of the unit is adjustable for flush ceiling mounting. It comes with a locking cover plate protected threeposition switch for the dual-motor, low-voltage control system, and there is infrared and RF remote control, as well. Features include automatic thermal overload cutout, integral gears, capacitor, and an electric brake to prevent coasting. When raised, the lift will engage a micro switch that will cut power to the motor. A removable tray is attached to bottom frame assembly to allow for ceiling tile attachment.

There isn’t always a lot of room above the ceiling, so ceiling-recessed projector lifts don’t always work. With Draper’s AeroLifts though, there are more opportunities than ever for using a recessed projector lift. Although they feature a small footprint, they’re also strong and durable. The AeroLifts are powered by strong tubular motors for a simplified design and feature a stabilizing arm which can also be used for cable management. Builtin adjustability allows you to deal with job site conditions quickly and easily. The projector can be mounted flush to bottom pan. It can also be used to recess speakers, security cameras, videoconferencing cameras, or document cameras. Aerolifts can be independently operated using Draper’s motorized lift controls. All three AeroLifts are now US UL Listed to UL 2442 and Canada UL Listed to CSA C22.2 No. 60065-03. This certification means no issues with electrical inspectors after installation, and eliminates the need for expensive field certifications.

The Epson frame, built by Lang AG, is designed to meet market needs when used with the Epson Pro L1000-Series laser largevenue projectors. The sturdy pipe construction weighs just 40lbs., making it suitable for attaching to truss and rigging, and the pantilt functionality ensures precise adjustments for a great image on screen every time. The frame is stackable with an easy connector pin for quick release, making it easy to install and take down to prepare for the next event.

The Extron Half Rack Shelf System and related accessories are designed for applications utilizing onehalf rack width and smaller products. The compact, 1U halfrack width size allows the mounting of half, quarter, and eighthrack products in space-constrained furniture such as lecterns and cabinets that are not wide enough to support the mounting of full width, 19in. rack shelves or electronics. The HalfRack System is comprised of the HRB 109 Basic Rack Shelf; the HRU 109 Universal Rack Shelf Kit, which includes eighthrack and quarterrack false faceplates; and the HRP 100 Blank Panel. The HRP 104 AAP has openings for up to four singlespace AAP – Architectural Adapter Plates and is available in a black powder-coat finish. Most halfrack system products are finished in a durable gray powder-coat finish to match other Extron products.

The Lowell Manufacturing LPOR pull-out rack design provides easy access to equipment installed in a cabinet or millwork. The rack slides forward on rails to allow access to the back of equipment, cables and wiring. It can be mounted flush or recessed up to 2in. After equipment is installed, the assembly can be secured with a screw-in front panel at the base. It features a 14-gauge steel base, 11-gauge steel corner post rails (tapped 10-32), three cable lacing bars, side stiffeners for torsional rigidity, and holes for cable management. The LPOR pull-out racks are made in the United States with certified U.S. steel in a black powder epoxy finish. The load capacity of this rack line is from 125lbs. to 250lbs.

Featuring the patented Lever Lock tool-free mounting system, the Proximity Series InWall Box and Mounting Plates from Middle Atlantic Products provide convenient storage of components, power solutions, and cables recessed in the wall behind the display. The in-wall box offers four levels of mounting space. The small in-wall box ships with one 4in. mounting plate while the large model ships with two 4in. mounting plates. Included are a J-Box, duplex receptacle, and trim ring. Meanwhile, the company’s Vision Display Mount (VDM) series of 17 professional-grade display mounts have professional features and they are available in a selection of styles as well as a range of sizes and in fixed, tilt, motion, and low-profile options. The motion mounts have a 15in. to 24in. reach and cable management built into the arms. A Proximity Series Mounting Plate ships with each standard profile mount.

The OmniMount DCM250 TV Ceiling Mount is perfect for multi-display situations when the monitors need to be out in the middle of the space. Attached directly to the ceiling and holding two displays back to back, the DCM250 has pinned tilt adjustment to allow both displays to be held at precisely the same angle and it has a variable tilt adjustment, as well. It is capable of portrait or landscape orientation, and cables can be routed through the pipe and ceiling plate. The Lift-n-Lock system provides one person installation. Included is a threaded bottom pipe for mounting additional accessories and there is anti-theft security hardware. The brackets fit most 32in. to 65in. displays and support up to 250lbs.

The SmartMount Digital Menu Board Ceiling Mount from Peerless-AV has both fixed and continuous tilt options to provide perfect display alignment. The tool-less 8pt adjustment fixes all the displays on the same plane with a seamless appearance. Displays of 46in. to 48in. can be mounted in landscape format and the quick connect latch automatically engages the wall plate during installation to make it much easier with a continuous mounting surface. The black mount holds up to 200lbs. and included security hardware deters tampering and theft. Accessories include the DCS400 heavy duty ceiling plate for structural ceilings and the DCT300 heavy duty truss and I-beam ceiling plate.

Premier Mounts has a swing-out mount for displays up to 100lbs. with the AM100. For installation versatility it can swing out from the right, the left, or from the center to reach up to 30in. from the wall. Allowing up to 15 degrees of downward tilt, the lightweight aluminum arm can swivel through 180 degrees and fold back to only 1.5in. from the wall. Cable management channels are built-in to protect cables and maintain a professional look. Its UMB-DBT menu board flatpanel display brackets fasten directly to a Unistrut channel for mounting the displays in very neat rows. The arms can angle down 15 degrees and the brackets can be installed very quickly.

The Rose Electronics RackView Keyboard fits into a single RU and slides completely out of sight when not in use. It is a full-size, 106- key unit with separate numeric keypad and integrated two-button touchpad mouse. The rear rack rail is adjusted to the depth of the rack and it is fastened in and ready to go. The keyboard has both USB and PS2 ports for connecting to a wide age range of rack systems. It is often paired with the Rose Electronics RackView Panel Mount.

The SM-CS-ART2-L Strong Contractor Series Universal Articulating Dual Arm Mount from SnapAV has integrated wire management covers built-in, and for ease of mounting, multiple bolt slots in the back plate enable a horizontal shift of up to 6in. to fit stud placement. The movement tension is adjustable along the joints and the display can be easily rotated after installation. The mount is tough and durable with its stamped steel back plate and welded tubular steel arms. It can swivel through 180 degrees and holds displays as large as 90in. and weighing up to 150lbs.

Spectrum Industries has recently introduced the Fusion Collaboration Table with standard cutouts on the work surface. Over 12 cutouts are available to fit the most popular power and sharing systems, from major manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, and Kramer. This greatly simplifies and speeds installation with a wide choice of manufacturers. It is available in sizes from 60in. to 96in. long and in heights from 27in. to 42in. with fixed legs or electric lift legs. Casters can also be attached for easy mobility. The one-piece, 48in.-wide work surface is made with high-pressure laminate on 1in. engineered wood. At least one position is handicap accessible for ADA compliance. There is an optional display stand that can hold up to 100lbs. The Fusion Collaboration Table can be ordered in the Spectrum Expressions line of laminate and metal colors with dozens of color combinations.

Video Mount Products has introduced its new ERWEN-6E 19in. wall rack enclosure for fitting into tight mounting space situations with its adjustable front and rear rails, removable hinged back panel, and a reversible glass front door. Made of welded steel, the mount ships fully assembled and it provides 16in. of useable depth. Front and rear rails are adjustable and the top and bottom are vented. Installation is easier with the top and bottom cable routing knockouts, and the removable hinged back panel. The front side includes a reversible hinged tempered glass door, and the sides are removable with optional locks. The ERWEN-6E has a maximum weight support capacity of 120lbs. and its black powder-coat finish fits anywhere.
