Barco FLM HD20

While large flatpanel displays get a lot of attention as the visualization outlet of choice for many venues, projectors are still ideal for application briefs that feature large audiences in complicated lighting situations. With the 3D evolution fully upon us, projector manufacturers have been quick to answer the demand with projectors that provide the latest 3D bells and whistles as well as sharp image output with reduced susceptibility to environmental conditions. Here’s what some manufacturers are currently offering for 3D and large venue applications.

An ideal fit for large venues that require extra brightness to show crisp, clear images, Barco‘s FLM HD20 projector is an ultra-bright, durable projector with full HD picture-in-picture capabilities. With 20,000 lumens light output, the FLM HD20 is able to display widescreen, high-contrast images even in venues with lots of ambient light. Other features include a contrast ratio of 1,800: 1 with a high-contrast mode of 2,400:1, low noise levels thanks to liquid cooling, a sealed optic engine that prevents dust, smoke and other environmental contaminates from impairing picture quality, extended lamp warranty (750 hours), and good lamp maintenance at typically 1,000 hours.

Designed for use in demanding settings, BenQ’s SH960 large-venue projector boasts full HD 1080p native resolution and 5,500 ANSI lumens ultra-high brightness for brilliant images. The SH960 is equipped with a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and a native 16:9 aspect ratio with a full 1.07 billion-color palette. The projector’s dual-lamp design allows users to opt for maximum brightness or choose an eco-mode that extends lamp life by up to 30 percent. H+V Lens Shift technology gives users flexibility in projector placement, allowing the focal point of the lens to be adjusted in venues where dead-center placement isn’t possible.

Canon LV-8235 UST

Canon’s new LV-8235 UST ultra-short-throw projector is capable of displaying an 80in. image from only 1.04ft. away. Combining 2,500 lumens and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio with a compact design and a wide range of installation options, the LV-8235’s HDMI input allows it to project crisp HD images, from a wide range of hi-definition sources. Cited as a perfect partner with the laptop computers most used by students and professionals because it has WXGA native resolution (1280 x 800), the LV-8235 UST also offers 3D sync support as well as quiet operation and closed captioning.

Christie Digital Systems Mirage HD20K-J

Christie Digital System’s Mirage HD20K-J DLP projector offers customization based on need.
