Nigel B Design of Studio City, Calif., has applied for a patent for its Plenum Equipment Box. Manufactured to UL and NEC specifications, its generous interior dimensions of 11.5″x11.5”x5″ allow products such as Crestron‘s QM-RMC and IM-RX1, as well as similarly sized products, to easily fit inside.

Power is brought directly to the interior supplied AC receptacle inside the box via a conduit connection. All power and wiring remains enclosed and is simply run inside the projector’s mounting pole, allowing the entire installation to be classed as “Plenum Rated.” Keeping all the equipment in the plenum or ceiling space also allows the projector to mount right up against the ceiling tiles. Storing the equipment this way makes installations more orderly by hiding messy wiring.

Additionally, with all the equipment hidden in the plenum space, chances of theft are reduced or substantially eliminated.
