Recording studio features and wireless connectivity have brought a new dimension to taking sound on the road in highly mobile, quick setup sound systems. Wi-Fi remote control and DSP presets can be found on many of the portable PA systems listed here. Small enough to get around but big enough to handle high SPL, the Point12 from Adamson Systems can be used for speech systems or live bands. The two-way cabinet has a rotatable waveguide to provide a variety of coverage angles and its anisometric hexagon shape makes it easy to use as a floor monitor. The Go Getter has two mic inputs on XLR/TRS jacks and a 1/4in. TRS line in. It can house two wireless mic receivers with an MP3/CD player, and it has both line and speaker outputs. The sound is delivered by a 6.5in. woven-fiber woofer and high-output horn tweeter. Charging status and low-battery warning are visible on a panel-mounted LED.

Meyer Sound has pushed the power-to-size ratio to a new level with the UPJunior UltraCompact VariO loudspeaker. The unit incorporates a 2-channel, Class AB/bridged 300W power amplifier, and it can be flown, arrayed, and used as a stage monitor.
