The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is using ScheduAll‘s end-to-end operations management software as its primary booking tool for its full production and postproduction studios, as well as for weekly broadcasts and the live presentation of the church’s biannual General Conference.

“Our church has an enormous worldwide membership, served both by staff and a significant volunteer base, and we rely on ScheduAll to manage these resources efficiently, to meet deadlines, and to fulfill our production obligations cost-effectively,” says Jeremy Shelton, AV scheduler for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “For a church, it is extremely important to control costs, and ScheduAll is paramount in ensuring that our resources are used to the highest levels of efficiency. Thus, we can complete inhouse productions at a higher quality, in less time, and at lower costs than if we outsourced these projects.”

Robust with network and Internet capabilities and extensive security controls, ScheduAll enables frictionless collaboration and information sharing so individuals or entire communities of users are able to administer a wide range of interrelated processes seamlessly across production and broadcast operations.

The church uses ScheduAll to track some 200 major projects, 600 minor projects, and 6,000 service requests each year. The software system is used to schedule full-time, on-call, and freelance employees, as well as church missionaries and volunteers. Major projects include the General Conference, a biannual meeting broadcast live worldwide in more than 65 languages; concerts featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir; and production of multiple feature films, simultaneously, at the church studios.

By providing a clear picture of staff workloads, ScheduAll allows the church to eliminate the duplication of efforts and improve workflows. This workforce planning allows for scheduling adjustments to avoid overtime and to lessen the church’s reliance on on-call and freelance workers. While larger projects rely heavily on the system, the church has recognized the greatest benefit in identifying and assigning available resources to smaller projects.

“Ultimately, the value in ScheduAll is that it gives us the ability to see who is doing what and when,” adds Shelton. “We use hundreds of staff members and volunteers for some of our productions, and ScheduAll serves as a critical control point for centralized scheduling.”
