Expansion to the Commercial Audio Series was announced by Crown International at NSCA, with the addition of mixer and amplifier models and a higher-power mixer-amplifier. Larry Baker, director of marketing for installed sound at Crown, made the announcement: "The first products in our new Commercial Audio Series, the 180MA and 280MA mixer-amplifiers, are being very quickly adopted and we are pleased at how well they are being accepted. We've now broadened the series into what is now a complete line of mixer and amplifier products. It is now very easy to mix and match components to assemble a solution for any number of inputs or zones."

The Crown Commercial Audio Series are high-value mixer and amplifier products for commercial and industrial audio. The line is targeted toward applications including schools, hospitals, factories, restaurant/retail, houses of worship, fitness facilities, AV boardrooms, prisons, and small offices. Typical uses are paging, background music, security, and evacuation instructions.

Mixer input routing allows each input to be assigned to any output, often greatly reducing the need for additional mixers or amplifiers (or both) when systems require either more inputs or outputs. Other features include priority muting, phantom power, four-tone generator, independent volume, bass and treble controls for each channel, and capability for remote volume control. Amplifier models provide 4Ω and constant-voltage outputs (70V and 100V).

Power ratings and number of inputs and outputs for the new models are as follows:

  • 1160MA mixer-amplifier: four inputs and one 160W power amplifier
  • 180A amplifier: one input and one 80W power amplifier
  • 280A amplifier: two inputs and dual 80W power amplifiers
  • 1160A amplifier: one input and one 160W power amplifier
  • 14M mixer: four inputs and one output channel
  • 28M mixer: eight inputs and two output channels
