Project Overview

Ask any AV professional, and he'll tell you the same thing ? there is no typical AV project. A project can range from installing a single projector in a classroom to a fully networked digital audio system with video links across a vast corporate campus. The successful integrator needs to be able to accommodate projects of every size.

Ask any AV professional, and he'll tell you the same thing — there is no typical AV project. A project can range from installing a single projector in a classroom to a fully networked digital audio system with video links across a vast corporate campus. The successful integrator needs to be able to accommodate projects of every size.

Respondents to this month's MarketWatch survey, co-sponsored by InfoComm International and PRO AV, say that almost 80 percent of all AV projects returned less that $75,000. At the other end of the spectrum, just over 10 percent of respondents report that the average project size was more than $200,000. Clearly, there is a wide range of companies completing a wide variety of projects.

Perhaps this month's most significant finding is more proof that the corporate AV market continues to be the single most important vertical market for most AV professionals. Over one-third say that the single largest project that their companies have undertaken was in this vertical market. This shouldn't be surprising because corporate campuses can span across the city or around the world.
