Samsung will offer the first flat panels to support DirecĀTV's RVU (pronounced "r-view") technology, which centralizes functions such as user interfaces and digital video recording. At the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung said its LED D6000, LED D6400, and LED D6420 TVs would include the RVU protocol, which eliminates the need for separate set-top boxes for multiple displays in homes or light commercial installations. Using remote user-interface technology, RVU-connected displays communicate over IP with a server to access DVR services, streaming AV, and other features. Based on the client (in this case Samsung TVs), the server renders graphics from low resolution to 1080p. 800-726-7864. www.samsung.com.
