The new PLC-XF1000 from Sanyo is a two-lamp, 3LCD projector that offers 12,000 lumens of brightness. Driven by the QuaDrive optical engine, the projector displays in WUXGA resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio for a 40- to 600-inch screen size (depending on the lens). The QuaDrive uses an inorganic panel that contributes to the projector's 4,000:1 contrast ratio. An additional color control device in the QuaDrive controls the amount of yellow light in the image, so the image's brightness doesn't wash out its color, says the company. Other features include Power Zoom/Focus functions, Power Vertical/Horizontal Lens Shifting, and Sanyo's Active Maintenance Filter. Price: PLC-XF1000, $24,995 (without lens).
