Panasonic has launched its Premiere Series of plasma displays with the TH-65VX100U, a 65-inch model with a 60,000:1 contrast ratio and a gradation level of 7,160 steps.

Panasonic has launched its Premiere Series of plasma displays with the TH-65VX100U, a 65-inch model with a 60,000:1 contrast ratio and a gradation level of 7,160 steps. The display produces a deep blacks via the Dynamic Black Layer on the front end. A newly designed phosphor material process technology and optical filter allows for an expanded color range that covers 120 percent of the HDTV color standard, according to the company. The 60-inch model is expected to be available in January 2009, while a 50-inch model is scheduled for release later in the first quarter. Price: $10,000.
