Extron Fiber Matrix 6400 switcher

Extron's new Fiber Matrix 6400 is a high-performance, modular, fiber-optic matrix switcher, expandable in sizes from 8x8 up to 64x64, and supports up to 4.25 Gbps digital switching.

While fiber-optic signal transmission is nearly ubiquitous in the broadcast, telephony, and other industries, it's taken a little more time for the pro AV world to adopt it. Several smaller companies have been doing an excellent job educating the market and offering fiber products, but crossing this chasm will be facilitated now that Extron has made this major commitment to this technology.
